Boone County officers make drug arrest
BOONE COUNTY – On Monday, March 28, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested a county resident on drug charges. The deputy was assisted by a Boone County K9-Unit and the Belvidere -Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit.
Cesar Fonseca, 24, of Capron Illinois, was charged with one count of unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine) within 1000 feet of a senior citizen complex (Class X Felony). Fonseca remains in the Boone County Jail with no bond.
On Monday morning, a Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle in the 4,400 Block of Squaw Prairie Road for a traffic violation.
During the course of the investigation, cocaine was seized from the vehicle along with United States currency, and electronic equipment. The vehicle was also seized by the Sheriff’s Office.
A Class X Felony is punishable by six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
