Brereton hosts successful gala
There was another large turnout for mayoral candidate Ric Brereton as he hosted a Gala Fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Community Building Complex of Boone County.
Local talent, singer/songwriter Dan Holmes provided the entertainment for the evening while Kenny Freeman and Don Banks conducted the live dessert auction.
The evening’s opening invocation was given by Dr. Robert Kopp.
Brereton spoke of his Belvidere heritage, and reiterated his ideas for better use of television, radio, internet, and news publications. The candidate’s message of building and maintaining relationships, including more people in the decision making process, and improved communications continues to be received well.
Brereton thanked all who attended and the campaign’s extensive committee toward the end of the night.
Ric Brereton currently serves as Belvidere’s city treasurer, a position he was elected to in 2013. His term expires this year, as he seeks the Republican nomination for mayor.
Brereton also serves as Boone County Republican Club president, and city chairman for the Boone County Republican Central Committee.
The primary election is Tuesday, Feb. 28.
