Here we go again!

Belvidere Head Coach Aaron Pearson and top assistant Nate Lister are “coaching up” the Bucs for another run at post-season glory.

Point proven on Wednesday, Feb. 8 in Rockford as the Bucs pounded their hosts 50-28 in a game not remotely as close as the final score as Pearson rotated deep into the bench throughout the game.

Speaking of point, aside from their height disadvantage in every game, Belvidere seems to have solved the most glaring challenge that has resulted in a few disappointing to bewildering losses during the season.

Pearson has kept opponents guessing by rotating that position regularly and often pulling out senior Austin Revolinski to direct traffic as few players in the NIC-10 are inclined to go toe-to-toe with the rugged “Buc Tough” captain.

Bringing New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichek to mind, Pearson is also increasingly renowned for working with Lister to devise defensive schemes to shut down studs.

While Jefferson traveled to Belvidere back on Dec. 12 and left with a hard-fought 56-48 win, the Bucs grounded J-Hawks major-college prospects juniors Quillin Dixon (three points) and My’Quion Garrett (eight) this time around and led 22-11 after the first quarter and 33-17 at the half.

Revolinski led all scoring with 15 points followed by seniors Nate Horton (10), Will Morris (eight), Austin Brockmann (four), rebounding star Xavier Dent (four), Joey Hernandez (three) and juniors Brady Hauser (three), Phil Kolk (two), and Shawn Dean (one).

Belvidere traveled to the always salty Pretzels of Freeport on Friday, Feb. 10 with varsity tip-off at 7 p.m. Results of that game were unavailable at the time of press.
