Flying high after a dominating 26-13 win over Guilford and encouraged by the resurgence of student, fan, family, and faculty support emboldened by the addition of innovative offensive coordinator Tony Ambrogio, whose prowess as well as coaching genesis was rooted and nurtured in Belvidere Junior Tackle Football and the highly competitive Rock Valley Junior Tackle Football League, the J-Hawks migrated to Belvidere with fresh hope of permanently changing the gridiron culture at Jefferson.

Their hosts were not compliant.

Head Coach Chuck Leonard, with a knack for getting the Bucs ready for must-win games with an eye to the post-season, unleashed senior captain Austin Revolinski for another bold land and air assault that left their guests shaking their heads in dismay after a 41-14 win that wasn’t as close as the final score.

With legendary announcer Todd Humphry, who mentored Ambrogio and continues helping to shape young men concomitant to the highest American values as a continuing leader in BYB and BJT, bellowing kudos to Revolinski as “The Steel Plow,” the all-state quarterback candidate ran for a neat 109 yards, passed for another 75, and sandwiched a 37 yard scoring strike to junior Phil Kolk with power plunges from one and 10 yards.

Junior Shawn Dean returned to action, causing fans to muse about the Boylan game while dreaming about the future and immediately made a statement on both sides of the ball.  He recovered the squib kick fumble to open the game that led to Revolinski’s first plow into paydirt and then intercepted J-Hawk junior quarterback James Dunner’s pass and dashed and dodged into the end zone from 28 yards out to put the game out of reach 34-0 early in the fourth quarter.

Steady fullback and sturdy linebacker Dalton Vaupel closed out the scoring with a tough run inside from four yards to complete the final tally.

Despite a hiccup on a botched squibber early in the game that resulted in the only score for the junior J-Hawks in an otherwise totally dominating performance, the baby Bucs opened the evening with a 26-8 victory behind sophomores Austin Hausen at quarterback and running backs Joseph Dewayne and Michael Kurtenbach as freshman wideout Isaiah Rhodes continues to open eyes with his penchant for significant separation from defenders and clean routes.
