Byron High School Choir is proud to announce that Junior Maison Brandt was selected for the NAfME (National Associate for Music Educators) All-National Honor Choir. The choir was under the direction of Frances Fonza.

Byron High School Choir is proud to announce that Junior Maison Brandt was selected for the NAfME (National Associate for Music Educators) All-National Honor Choir.

Maison submitted an audition recording in May and was notified in July that he was selected to the ensemble.  The criteria for audition was that each student had to be a member of their State’s All-State ensemble.

He was a member of Illinois All State Choir last January. This year’s event was held in Maryland at the Gaylord Hotel.

The 200-member honor choir rehearsed for three days and held a final concert.  The other ensembles on the program included a modern band group, guitar ensemble, concert band, and orchestra.

The choir was under the direction of Frances FonzaShe is the Director of Worship and Arts at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Md., and is on faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education.

When asked, before the event, Maison said, “I’m very excited for the opportunity to sing in the All National Honor Choir. This experience will be amazing, and I want to thank Mrs. Harn for everything that she has done to get me to this point in my music journey.”
