Let’s play ball! The Byron Park District is excited to head outdoors and hit the diamonds this summer. Registrations for Baseball, Softball, Coach Pitch, and T-Ball are being accepted through June 19. Registration is available to resident and non-resident participants.

Baseball and Softball: These competitive leagues for 8-14 year olds continue to build upon fundamentals. Players register as individuals and teams are formed through a draft process. There are no team/player requests allowed in these leagues. Practices will begin the week of June 29, with the regular season running July 13 through Sept. 4. Tournament and All Star weekend dates are to be determined. All games will be played at the Byron Sports Complex. Fees vary by age level and residency.

Coach pitch baseball & softball

This instructional league for 6-8 year olds builds upon the basic hitting, fielding, and throwing fundamentals taught in t-ball. Players will play multiple positions and learn the rules of the game. Practices will be held June 29 through July 10. Games will be played Monday and Wednesday evenings July 13 through Aug. 5 at the Byron Sports Complex. Depending on registration numbers, this program may be co-ed. Fees vary by age level and residency.

T-Ball

This instructional league for 4-6 year olds teaches the basic fundamentals of hitting, fielding and throwing in a non-competitive game environment. Practices will be held June 29 through July 10. Games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, July 14 through July 30 at the Byron Sports Complex. Fees vary by age level and residency.

COVID-19 guidelines: The Byron Park District will be following all guidelines established by Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois Plan. As these guidelines are evolving, Byron Park District staff will be in communication with coaches to ensure that the guidelines are being followed. At this time, we do not anticipate that face coverings will be required in Phase 4 when the season begins. Fan attendance at games will most likely be limited to 4 fans per player and seating will be located in the outfield area on most of our fields in order to provide additional dugout space for the players.

Volunteer coaches are needed! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach, contact our Superintendent of Recreation, Nick Warrner at 815-234-6218 or [email protected].
