Byron Public Library District is pleased to announce the opening of our newly renovated Teen Room, Maker Space, Study Rooms, and Class Rooms!

We cordially invite the community to attend our Open House event on May 31, where you can explore our new facilities, and see what’s in store for our patrons!

Our Teen Room is a dedicated space designed to meet the unique needs of teenagers. It features comfortable seating, new technology, and gaming stations.  The space is ideal for socializing, studying, or just hanging out with friends.

Our Makerspace is a state-of-the-art facility where patrons of all ages can explore, tinker, and create. It features a wide range of equipment, including 3D printers, sewing machines, and other craft supplies and equipment. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or a curious beginner, our Makerspace has something for everyone.

Our Study Rooms are quiet and comfortable spaces where patrons can focus on their work. They’re perfect for students, professionals, or anyone who needs a quiet space to work or study.

Our Class Rooms are versatile spaces designed for educational and community events. They’re equipped with audiovisual technology and can be configured to meet a variety of needs. Whether you’re attending a workshop, a lecture, or a community event, our Class Rooms provide a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Special hours

The Byron Public Library will be closed Monday, May 29, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.  We will re-open at our regular hours on Tuesday, May 30.  We wish all of our patrons a safe and happy Memorial Day

Help stock our Makerspace

Do you have crafting material, supplies or tools that you don’t need anymore?  Donate them to the Byron Library and help us stock our new makerspace!

Yarn, thread, fabric, needles, paper – you name it, we can use it.  Please bring all craft supply donations to the front desk.  We will be accepting donations through the end of May.

Wordle Challenge

The Writer’s Voice

Calling all writers! A new group is forming and you are welcome to join us for any or all of this month’s meeting times as we gather ideas and input on what you might be looking for in a writer’s group.

The goal of this group is to build confidence and encourage each other’s voice; celebrate every little accomplishment and be each other’s support through the biggest struggles that come with being a writer in today’s world; strengthen our weaknesses and nourish our strengths; develop structure, routine, and build on self-motivating techniques and educate, evaluate and ultimately have fun with our own unique voices.  Please call 815-234-5107 or visit Byron.evanced.info/signup to register.

You are invited to a cheese tasting party. During the event, guests will be invited to taste different cheeses and share their opinions on each one.

Beginner Hand Sewing

Monday, June 26

6 to 7 p.m.

This is a beginner hand sewing class were attendees will learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, sew a running stitch, sew a backstitch and sew on a button. All materials will be provided. Curbside delivery

The library is open for browsing, but patrons can still use our curbside service!  Place your holds online at byronlibrary.org or call us at 815-234-5107.  Not sure what you want?  Call us for help!  We will call or email you with a confirmation when your holds are ready to be picked up.  Call us when you arrive at the library, and we will bring your items out to you, already checked out.  A receipt with your due dates will be included with your items.
