The number of cars participating in Cars for CASA continues to grow as people choose to support CASA.

First held in the parking lot by Generations Chiropractic on Cadillac Court, Cars for CASA moved to the parking lot of the Community Center Complex, 111 W. 1st St., for last year’s event and was there again this year on Saturday, Aug. 24.

“We are hoping it will be continue to grow and we will need a more spacious location,” said Charlotte Meier of Boone County CASA.

CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, are specially trained citizens appointed by the court to serve as guardian ad litems in cases alleging abuse, neglect, or dependency of a child.

“We are the voice of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system,” she said. “We train volunteer advocates to represent these vulnerable kids. Our goal is to have every child we work with in a safe and happy home.”

Dr. Derek Prado, DC said, “I am on the CASA Board of Directors. I began Cars & Coffee for CASA two years ago. I wanted to do a car show and thought ‘why not benefit CASA at the same time?’ We are doing it again for a third year because everyone enjoyed it.

“We have motorcycles, classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, trucks, sports cars, and all kinds of good stuff.”

Dr. Prado handcrafted the trophies again this year. Pizza Fresca, JPG Concessions, Inc. and Coley’s Coolers provided refreshments. Manley’s Belvidere Driven to Give test drives gave $20 per test drive/survey. They had a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.

Tiffany of Massage Innovations brought her massage table and chair out and did massages for donations to CASA. She offers Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, myofascial, sports massage, hot stone massage, TMJ Relief, Cold Stone Migraine Relief, cupping therapy and a detox foot spa at her office, 431 S.
