Marjorie Culvey was born in Belvidere. In her youth Marjorie loved to roller skate. In the late 1930’s she had sung, and played piano on a radio station in Champaign, Ill. Over the years she volunteered in church and worked with youth groups.
A microchip is a radio-frequency identification transponder (RFID) that is implanted under an animal’s skin and is a permanent means of identification. Each microchip has a unique serial number that can be read by a microchip scanner.
The most recognizable cowboy in the world, four-time World Champion Bull Rider Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer, Tuff Hedeman, is readying the Boone County Fair for the second stop of the Tuff Hedeman Break Out Series Midwest Swing.
“We have fundraisers and use the money so we can do activities and things for the people at the Keen Age Center.”
RSVP provides volunteer opportunities for people aged 55 and older with a myriad of experience and interests from all economic, educational, workforce, and social backgrounds.
“The community looks forward to it,” Chief Gayle Worley of North Boone Fire Protection District #3 said.
The 4-H Dog Show includes showmanship and dog obedience. The 4-H’ers attend 9 weeks of training and then participate in the show, which took place on July 21.
The Belvidere Fire and Police Departments squared off in their second annual Battle of the Badges softball game at Belvidere High School.
“I’ve been bragging that we have the best readers around,” said Mayor Mike Chamberlain. “If they continue reading through the summer, then they will do very well throughout the school year.”
