Church members to embark on mission trip
Members from First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago are finalizing plans to attend a week-long Group Mission Trip Workcamp this summer in Imperial, Penn. This is the 24th year the church has participated in a Workcamp experience through Group Mission Trips.
Group Mission Trips offers youth home repair mission trips, community service projects and international mission trips. Hundreds of teenagers from youth groups across the country repair and transform homes while deepening their faith and building new relationships with peers and youth leaders.
Projects range from painting to building decks and wheelchair ramps and other general home repairs for elderly, disabled, and low-income residents. Spiritual growth happens when teenagers step out of their own worlds and serve those in need. They bring hope and the light of Jesus to the residents they serve.
To help raise funds for the camp and travel expenses, a churchwide rummage sale will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago, 208 W. Winnebago St., Winnebago, Ill., on Thursday, May 13 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to Noon. All proceeds will be used for the mission trip.
