City clarifies attendance rules for aldermen for city council meetings
At the Feb. 13 city council meeting, Loves Park aldermen approved several ordinances:
*An ordinance first reading, amending Section 2-48 of the Loves Park Code of Ordinances relating to attendance “by means other than physical presence” was approved per the following: (a) “Attendance by other means: Alderpersons shall be permitted to attend a city council meeting or standing committee, but not an executive session meeting, by video or audio conference, hereinafter other means, due to: (1) Personal illness or disability; or (2) If, because of a nationally or state recognized holiday, or other manmade or natural incident or emergency that requires a meeting of the city council or a committee to be moved from its regular meeting time, and such a move from the regular meeting time creates an actual conflict with an alderperson’s employment; or (3) a family or other emergency.”
*An ordinance, second reading, amending Chapter 102, Off-Street Parking and Loading in yards, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Loves Park was okayed, with the amendment stating, (a) “No parking or driving shall be allowed in the required front and side setbacks adjacent to a right-of-way in all residential and CN (Commercial Neighborhood) Districts, except on a private driveway improved with a hard surface, which is dust free and provides for water runoff, except when snow removal or other emergency parking regulations are in effect. Governmental agencies and permitted special events by the City, shall be exempt from this requirement.”
*An ordinance, second reading, approving the issuance of a Class “F” Liquor License to Paradise Slots was passed.
*An ordinance, second reading, amending Chapter 102, Accessory Structures, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Loves Park was also passed, detailed as follows: “Add. (j) 7. Modified shipping containers, temporary transportable or transferable structures may be occupied to conduct business on a lot zoned commercial retail when it is part of a Precise Plan Development, and has received approvals through permitting from the building department.
The approval shall also be contingent upon approval of the local health department, and if warranted, the local fire department, the International Building Code (IBC), National Electric Code (NEC), Illinois Plumbing Code (IPC), and International Mechanical Code (IMC), unless otherwise permitted by subsection (j) (1)-(7) of this section.
All other provisions of Chapter 102, Article III, Districts, Division 1, Generally, Section 102-135, Accessory structures, shall remain in effect as previously published.”
Per the fire department report for the week of Jan. 31, the following responses were reported: one mobile property (vehicle) fire; one rescue, emergency, medical EMS call; 61 EMS, Emergency Medical Service responses; one smoke or odor problem; six public service assistance responses; one dispatched but cancelled enroute response; five false alarm calls; two unintentional system (no fire) calls.
Per the police department report for the week of Jan. 29, 474 calls for service were received by the department, 118 arrests were made, and officers responded to 11 accidents.
During the week of Jan. 30, water department employees completed the following duties, among others: ERT reprogramming/ERT change outs, installation of a sample station at 6950 E. Riverside Blvd., repair of a service line at 6654 Conestoga Trail, and repair of a water main break at 4414 Blackberry Knoll. During the week of Feb. 6, there was repair of a service line at 4525 Cromwell Ct., repair of a service line at 6559 Red Barn Road, repair of a service leak at 528 Clifford Ave., repair of a water main valve at Exeter Ave. and Alpine Road service drive.
