CoettaCloriceFidder was born at home in New Virginia, Iowa on Dec. 7, 1937 and went with the angels on July 3 in West Columbia, S.C. after a long struggle living with COPD.

She was the daughter of Willard W. Hawn and Frances B. Hodges.

She grew up attending schools in Iowa, Florida, and Illinois, graduating from Belvidere High School in 1955. Clorice was a majorette from 7thgrade until graduating.

On Sept. 9, 1956 she married her love, Donald F. Fidder, in Belvidere, Ill. Together they farmed and raised five children until Don’s passing on May 27, 2005.

As an integral partner on the farm, Clorice helped plant the fields, kept the farm records, and participated in the care of the pigs.

In her free time, Clorice volunteeredas room mother at her children’s schools, at the Boone County Extension Office, as a Girl Scout Leader, at Pioneer Days, as a 4-H Leader of the Young Producers and Spring Pioneers and as a judge at the Boone County Fair 4-H events.

She and Don bowled as Doubles, she was a member of the 600 Bowling Club and coached girl’s junior league bowling. Clorice worked atBarber Coleman, Dale’s Photography Studio, the Belvidere Post Office as a rural mail carrier, and at George Graves and Sons Screw Manufacturing.

Clorice was a member of the Asa Cottrell Chapter – NSDAR and served as an officer and on various committees, a member of the Poplar Grove UMC and the United Methodist Women, Boone County Historical Museum Society, Belvidere Moose Club, Northern Illinois Pork Producers and the Kirkland American Legion.

Clorice loved to sew, quilt, and cook. She was a lifelong learner and had numerous hobbies. Diving into everything she enjoyed including collecting movies (watching them with her grandchildren), various TV shows, putting puzzles together, playing games of chance and going to the casinos with family and friends.  She created beautiful quilts and belonged to Quilt Clubs. She gave her special quilts to her family.  Clorice loved the water and camped at the Boone County Lake, Lehmans Lake, and Hunting Island, S.C.  She lived to laugh and love.

Clorice is survived by her loving family, children Tim (Dee) Fidder of Belvidere, Cindee (Mike) Robinson of Poplar Grove, Ted (Carrie) Fidder of Broomfield, Colo., Susanne (Mike) Ruano of West Columbia, S.C., and Sharon (Rodney) Guttmann of Cantonment, Fla.

Grandchildren TSgt. Josh (Lindsey) Fidder of Nev., Rebekah (Wade) Posusta of Iowa, Bridgette Fidderof Ill.,  Jennee (Jason) Kolthoff of Ill.,  Jon (Kyla) Roach of Ill, Justin (Jill) Roach of Ill., Kevin and Jake Robinson of IL,  Brianna Fidder (fiancée Troy Sornson) of CO, Ryan Gipp of IL, Savannah Ruano of SC, Jacquelyn, Emma and William Guttmann all of Fla.

Great grandchildren to whom she was known as “GG,” Elizabeth and Brooklyn Fidder, Nathan, Abigail, Madelyn and Lucas Kolthoff and Maggie Roach, her sister Darlene Schoepski of Ill., her goddaughter Sue (Ron) Watson of Rockford, Aunt Lillian (Guenther) Enge and Uncle Weems Hodges of Ill., many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her constant companion Yoda.

Clorice is predeceased by her husband Don Fidder, parents Willard Hawn and Frances Dale, grandson Martin Robinson and granddaughter Samantha Gipp Burleson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church at 105 Grove St. in Poplar Grove on Saturday, July 23.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a “Celebration of Life” at 11a.m. with luncheon immediately following service.

Memorials in Clorice’s name can be given to the “Make-A-Wish” foundation, the March of Dimes, and the Belvidere Historical Society.
