BELVIDERE – Dorothy L. Pond, 95, of Belvidere, Ill., passed away Monday morning, Oct. 19 at Lincolnshire Place in Loves Park, Ill.

Dorothy was born Dec. 21, 1919 in Kirkland, Ill., daughter of Daniel C. and Ellen J. (Palmer) Powell. She graduated from high school and went on to Business College in Elgin. Dorothy married Warren A. Pond on June 28, 1941 in Irene, Ill. She was employed by First Federal Savings and Loan in Belvidere as a bookkeeper.

Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was part of the choir. She was also part of the singing group, “Sweet Adelines.” Dorothy loved scrap booking, cooking, singing, and fishing. She enjoyed going to her home on the lake in Wisconsin for many years.

Dorothy is loved and will be missed by her children, Russell (Cynthia) Pond of Hastings, Minn.; Katherine M. Anderson of Rockford, Ill.; grandchildren, Amy Pond of Minneapolis, Minn., Kristin (Jamie) Waby of Columbus, Ohio, Mathew B. Anderson of Rockford, Ill., Julie E. Anderson of Portland, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Owen, Emma, Asher Waby, and Sara, Kayla, Tyler Anderson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Warren, and son, Donald A. Pond.

Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Donald A. Pond Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Poplar Grove Airport.
