Evalene Palmer celebrates 102nd birthday
BYRON – Lifelong Byron area resident Evalene Palmer celebrated her 102nd birthday on June 6, 2015 with family and friends at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center in Byron.
Evalene and her late husband Hank farmed on Town Line Road near Indian Village. She had a huge garden and canned all her own fruits and vegetables. Made the best dill pickles ever! Hank had a small butcher shop and processed all their own meat (pork and beef) for family and neighbors. Every once in a while on a Sunday, Evalene would make donuts and sweet rolls for the entire family. (Made over 150 donuts and 5 or 6 pans of sweet rolls.) These were better than Krispy Kreme! We all looked forward to ‘donut day’ at Gramma Palmer’s house.
Evelene is the mother of 5 children, has 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Happy 102nd Birthday Mom – with much Love!
