Exploring the natural world is fun at Family Nature Day
ROCKTON – Natural Land Institute (NLI) invites families, individuals and groups to Family Nature Day on Saturday, June 25, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their 721-acre wildlife refuge, Nygren Wetland Preserve (3190 W. Rockton Road, Rockton, Ill.) You may start at any time and be sure to allow about two hours to visit all of the learning stations and more time if you want to take a guided prairie tour.
Bring the family and discover the joy of nature!
* Explore blooming prairies and wetlands
* Family friendly hands-on learning fun for all ages
* Wagon rides
* Kids receive a passport to get stamped that includes a map, questions and activities
* Kids can earn a Nygren Wetland Junior Naturalist badge by visiting six out of 10 learning stations to get their passport stamped
* Second year NW Junior Naturalists will earn a new level of recognition.
* Adults can earn a prize with 6 stamps on their map
* Learning Stations include: Prairies, Butterflies & Seeds, Forests, Wetlands, Birds, Mammals with Two Toads Environmental Experiences, Pollinators, Invaders, Macktown Living History & Archeology, Raptors with Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab & Education
* Guided tours of the Anne Meyer Wildflower Garden
