On Nov. 13 at 12:20 a.m., the Roscoe Police Department and Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department were dispatched to the 10100 block of Clearwing Lane, Roscoe.

One Roscoe Police Sergeant and two Roscoe Patrol Officers were first to arrive on scene along with Deputies from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon first arrival, Officers observed smoke/fire conditions to a two-story, four-unit family residence with one side of the building missing.

Officers were advised that one of the second floor apartments was occupied. Officers were able to force entry into an upstairs apartment from the ground floor.

Once inside they made their way up the stairway and opened up the interior door to the main portion of the apartment.

Upon opening the door, they made contact with one adult occupant. The adult occupant advised there were two juveniles in a rear bedroom.

The Sergeant with the Roscoe Police Department made his way to the back bedroom with the adult male occupant. Once in the bedroom the Sergeant picked up a child that was in a crib while the adult male picked up the other child, and they exited the apartment together.

The occupants of the unit along with the Officers of the Roscoe Police Department were treated and released at the scene by Harlem-Roscoe Fire EMS.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. The IL. State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the fire with the assistance from Harlem Roscoe Fire investigators
