Foundation awards grants at annual breakfast
The Boone County Community Foundation (BCCF) hosted their annual community grant breakfast, on Nov. 12, 2024. The foundation highlighted, celebrated and awarded grants to organizations that provide services to and help meet the needs of the Boone County community.
The 2024 grants are part of the Community Grant Program which consists of grants from the Melvin and Mildred Banks Fund, Wilbur and William Cummings Fund, and individual donors. Over $53,000.00 in community grants were awarded to 22 Boone County organizations.
We are pleased to announce the 2024 Community Grant recipients:

-Boone County Museum of History: $3,500- Hispanic Heritage Permanent Exhibit
-BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center: $1,500- Equine-assisted services to Veterans
-Farmers Rising: $1,000- Farm based education to Boone County public schools
-Friends of the Ida Public Library: $500- 2025 Summer Reading Program
-Girls on the Run: $1,000- Running program for 3 schools in Boone County Spring 2025
-Habitat for Humanity of Boone County: $4,000- Home Construction Costs
-Ida Public Library: $1,298- STEM, Early Literacy, and SEL Youth Kits
-Lutheran Social Services of IL: $1,500- Foster Parent Recruitment and basic needs assistance Boone County
-Northern Illinois Food Bank: $5,000- Take 50 for four Boone County Member Agencies
-Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum: $1,500- Air Academy Aviation Education Youth Program
-Regional Access and Mobilization Project: $1,000- Meta Quest Pro Virtual Reality Headset and iPad
-Sister Cities Association of Belvidere: $2000- Summer exchange program
-The Baby Bank: $3,500- Diaper and baby supply distribution to Boone County families
-The ARC of Winnebago, Boone, and Ogle Counties: $2,000- Guardianship and Representative Payee Seminars
-Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau: $2,000- Ag in the Classroom
-Zion Lutheran Church: $1,500- Food Distribution
