Fred Cox Obituary
Fred I. “Sunny” Cox, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at his home in South Beloit.
Fred was born on May 22, 1951, in Columbus, the son of Fred and Catherine “Helen” (Griffin) Cox. He married Janet Mattox in Belvidere, on March 8, 2012. Fred worked as an electrician most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and meeting with his breakfast group. He loved eating apple fritters.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Cox, of South Beloit; his children, Tracie (Zack) Davis, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Kurt (Anitra) Cox, of Victor, Idaho, and Kyle (Andrea Rosmann) Cox of Chicago; his siblings, Christine (Joe) Buckner, of Rockton, Jean Cox, of Fort Atkinson, and James (Mary Jill) Cox, of Belvidere; his grandchildren, Dylan, Catherine, Ryne, Kody, Kalyb, Ayanna, and Sara (Cory); other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Helen Cox.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary Help of Christians in Briggsville on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery in Briggsville. Visitation was held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home (www.pmmfh.com) in Portage on Monday, Jan. 29, from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
