ROCKTON – At its August meeting, the Board of Education of Rockton School District 140, named long term principal, Glenn Terry as its new superintendent.

Mr. Terry will assume full superintendent responsibilities after winter break during January 2016.

Until that time, Terry will serve in the dual roles of assistant superintendent while maintaining some of his responsibilities as the principal of Rockton Grade School.

To assist with the additional functions at the grade school, former Rockton Grade School Principal, Wes Morgan, will be employed on a temporary basis.

Glenn Terry has been employed by the Rockton School District for twenty-three years. His initial assignment within the school district was as a middle school math teacher.

From there he served as assistant principal at Rockton Grade School and Whitman Post Elementary School. Four years ago Mr. Terry became the principal at Rockton Grade School.

Current interim Superintendent, Dr. Robert Willis, recommended Glenn Terry to the board of education as a strong superintendent candidate based on his observations and work with Terry throughout the past year.

The board of education was influenced by Mr. Terry’s strong work ethic and his proven commitment to the school district in each role he has undertaken. Having been a long time employee of the district, Mr. Terry will immediately bring to the superintendency his knowledge of the Rockton community and the school district’s curriculum, procedures and personnel.

The board is grateful to Dr. Willis for his assistance leading to the settlement of a new three-year teacher contract and for his guidance over the past year.

With the naming of Glenn Terry as the new superintendent, the board of education believes that it can now begin to address the longer-term agenda items that will shape the district’s future.
