ROCKTON – Maggie Erdman, “Maggie-nificent”, was center stage at Talcott’s “Read to the Rhythm” Summer Reading Program, Thursday afternoon, July 30.
The young magician entertained an exuberant audience of children and parents with a blend of music, a little dancing, “magical” tricks and just plain silliness.
Erdman and her father, Rob have been entertaining children at schools, libraries and special events with fun and educational shows for the past 11 years.
Maggie is a graduate of Rock Valley College and will be attending Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in the fall. She and her father perform their magic throughout the area during the summer months.
Talcott Library’s Summer Reading Program began June 3, and ended June 30. Each summer children are challenged to read books. To make it even more fun, those enrolled in the reading program are invited to weekly entertainment events. According to Talcott’s Children’s Librarian Marianne Stenzel, the total number of books read by the 550 children this summer was 4,500.
