POPLAR GROVE – The Guilford High School boys’ varsity golf team defeated Belvidere High School in a golf match on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Timber Pointe Golf Club in Poplar Grove. Guilford won with a 186 compared to Belvidere’s 198.

Guilford brought home the victory with its top players scoring 12 points lower than Belvidere.

Schmitt had the lowest score with a 44, followed by Cuevas with a 46, and Swanson and Snedegor with 48s.

Their teammates Edwards and St. Angel weren’t too far behind with their scores of 54 and 49.

Belvidere gave it their all with Brandon Bishoff scoring a 44, followed by Gunner Gleason with a 50, Larry Larson with a 51, and Garrett Keeney with a 53.

Ryan Snyder and Jessie Theis of Belvidere also made an effort to defeat Guilford, but fell short with Snyder scoring a 60 and Theis scoring a 72.

The Belvidere Bucs junior varsity also lost to Guilford 238-217.
