Harlem’s Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys Bowling Teams have won the annual Guilford Invite. The Varsity Huskies trailed early, then rallied to win the sixth and final game, 1,151 to 1,012, to edge Hononegah for the Championship. At one point the Indians were up by 147 pins. But Harlem came back strong in the fourth game, winning by 1,222 to 1,065. Hononegah edged ahead after the fifth game to set the stage for the Huskies dramatic finish.

Kyler Gerl was the individual champion, stringing single games of 218, 247, 233, 279, 214 and 258 for a winning pin fall of 1,449. That’s an average of 241.5 pins per game. Teammate Jake Nimtz was fifth with a 1,404 series, which included single games of 248, 268, 184, 247, 258 and 199. He averaged 234 a game. Another Huskie, Dawson Jones, was eighth, giving Harlem three places in the Top 10. He rolled single games of 245, 205, 260, 235, 202 and 235 for a 1,382 pin fall, or an average of 230 per game.

Harlem defeated Sycamore by 157 pins, 5,656 to 5,527, to win the Junior Varsity level of the tournament.  Evan Johnson was sixth individually for the Huskies with a pin fall of 1,254, or an average of 209 per game.
