Harlem’s Carson Racich, Brenton Shaw playing varsity golf, football

It didn’t take any time at all for Harlem graduates Carson Racich and Brenton Shaw to break into varsity lineups of their chosen sports at the college level.
They both were record breakers of “first-ever” quality while playing golf and football for the Orange and White.
Both graduated last May with Racich committing to Division I Tennessee State University in Nashville, and Shaw heading for Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. They have since arrived and now are mak-ing their presence known as true freshmen competing with their varsity teams.
In the Tigers’ first tournament of the year, Carson led her team by tying for 23rd place at the Chris Banister Golf Classic in Glencoe, Ala. She closed out the event with a three over par 75, seventh best round in TSU history.
She is the only freshman among six members of the varsity golf team.
While at Harlem she became the first to qualify for state, doing that in 2016 during her senior year. She was a four-time sectional qualifier, most valuable player for the NIC-10 one season and first team, all-conference dur-ing her four-year career. She also was her team’s MVP. The daughter of Mark Racich and Kathy Lund-Racich, she was a conference scholar-athlete.
