Heritage Days coming back better than ever before

Heritage Days of Belvidere will return Friday, June 24 through Sunday, June 26 with more fun and more activities than years past.
The fun will kick off Friday, June 24 with events both new and old.
Friday
Splash Pad
Doty Park’s Splash Pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for families to enjoy water playground fun.
Best Burger Contest
Friday’s fun will include the Best Burger Contest at the Boone County Fairgrounds. The competition will begin at 5 p.m. with contestants from both KCBS and the Best Burger Contest checking-in.
Heritage Days is asking for all backyard grill masters to enter the competition. Whether you prefer grilling or cooking in the frying pan, there is room for you to join the competition.
At 7 p.m., contestants will turn in their best burgers to the judges who will rank burgers and award the winners.
The winner will receive $250, a trophy, and your burger will go on the menu at Bush Gardens Bar and Grill in Belvidere for a whole year.
The entry fee is $20.

Carnival
The Heritage Days carnival will take place at 400 W. Chrysler Drive from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with parking available at the old K-Mart.
Murder Mystery Dinner
The Boone County Historical Museum will host a Murder Mystery Dinner put on by the Main Street Players. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call the Boone County Historical Museum at (815) 544-2580.
Go-Kart racing
Go-Kart racers will have time to practice for race day from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Belvidere.
Zac Matthew’s Band
From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Zac Matthew’s Band will perform at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Saturday
Go-Karts
Go-Kart racing will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. in Downtown Belvidere.
5K
There will be a Grit Fit 5K Challenge at Spencer Park, located at 899 N. Appleton Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pony Rides
Pony Rides will be held at the Dari Ripple in Downtown Belvidere from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $5.
Wax Hands
The Dari Ripple will also make wax hands at the Dari Ripple.

The Doty Park Splash Pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for water playground fun.
Carnival
There will be a Heritage Days carnival at 400 W. Chrysler Drive from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking will be available at the old K-Mart.
Fire Truck Pull
The Fire Truck Pull will take place in Downtown Belvidere from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Art Fair
The Brick Café will host an art fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Car Show
There will be a car show in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paint on State
Paint on State will return for the second year on State Street. Paint on State will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5.
Craft Fair
Heritage Days will have a Craft Vendors at Hub Plaza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Flea Market
Wooden It Be Nice will host a Vintage Flea market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Duck Derby
The Duck Derby will take place at 4 p.m. on the Kishwaukee River.
Water Fights
Get ready for some wet fun with Water Fights in Downtown Belvidere from noon to 12:30 p.m.
Mural Painting
A Mural Painting will take place in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Street Dance
Take your kids to the Street Dance and Light Show in Downtown Belvidere. The dance will go until 10 p.m.
YMCA Activities
The Belvidere YMCA will host free activities from noon to 3 p.m. The activities include Bean Bag Bozo Ball Toss, Bucket Ball, Kerplunk, Bean Bag Tic Tac Toe, Pool Noodle Toss Game, and Giant Connect 4.
Kids Carnival
The Boone County Fairgrounds will also have a Kids Carnival from noon to 5 p.m.
Bouncy House
Kids can also participate in bouncy house fun at the Fairgrounds.
Flaming Monkeys
The Flaming Monkeys Robotics Club will give a performance in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
BBQ
The Kansas City BBQ competition will take place at the Boone County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Concerts
SmokinGunz band will perform at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Recently Paroled band will perform from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tractor Pull
The Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau Tractor Pull will commence at the Boone County Fairgrounds from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Truck and Tractor Shows
The Boone County Fairgrounds will be home to a truck and tractor shows from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Baseball Tournament
The Diamond Classics Baseball Tournament will occur all day at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Scottish Heavy Athletics
The Scottish Heavy Athletics will compete in Highland-style tournament games at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Sunday
Worship Service
A Heritage Days Patriotic Worship Service will be held at 10 a.m. tin the Community Building.
Flea Market
Wooden It Be Nice will host a Vintage Flea market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mural Painting
A Mural Painting will take place in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wax Hands
Dari Ripple staff will be making wax hand molds for at the fairgrounds from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
