Hononegah athlete, honor student signs letter of intent to swim at Augustana

ROCKTON – Gabrielle Ainsworth will be a member of the Augustana College swimming team next fall. On Thursday, May 5, the Hononegah senior signed a national letter of intent.
Ainsworth has been a member of the HHS varsity swimming team for four years. She has been team captain for two years and NIC-10 All Conference for two years. Ainsworth was voted Hononegah’s Most Valuable Swimmer, 2015-2016.
Ainsworth excels academically as well. She is a member of the HHS Student Council, Key Club and National Honors Society.
“Gabby has led by example. She is a responsible leader and great role model, “Swim Coach Brian McGuire said. “She is a great swimmer and an even better person.”
Stateline Aquatic Club Coach Kitzman praised Ainsworth’s ability to handle pressure.
“She has been a role model for the other swimmers.”
Ainsworth thanked her teammates, coaches and her parents Debbie and Christ Ainsworth.
“I got into swimming for the experiences,” she said. “My parents have always helped me strive to meet my goals.”
Augustana College is a private liberal arts college in Rock Island. It is ranked among the top 40 liberal arts colleges in the United States.
