The Hononegah Girls Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Freeport High School Saturday, Oct. 29 for the NIC-10 Fresh-Soph Conference Championship Meet. Sophomore divers Abbey Hellinga and Kaitlynn Alt helped the Indians capture Second Place in the meet finishing First and Second in Diving. Hellinga was First with 415.55 points and Alt Second with 306.40 points.  Both personal bests for the two divers.

The swimmers were led by Sophomores Emily McCabe and Megan Leppert. McCabe won the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.47 and was Second in the 200IM swimming a 2:25.24. Leppert was Second in the 100 breast, swimming a 1:18.57 and finished Fourth in the 200 free with a time of 2:14.78. The two teamed up with Freshmen Oliva Dirkse and Kyra Cure to place Second in the 200 Medley relay with a time of 2:06.89. Other top six finishers were by Cure swimming a 1:01.29 to finish Third in the 100 free and a 27.89 to place Fifth in the 50 free. Sophomore Stephanie Betts was Fifth in the 500 free with a 6:32.29 and finished Eighth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:49.03. The 200 free relay team of Sophomore Sam Doyle, Freshman Chloe Richeson, Sophomore Ashlyn Dull and Betts finished Fourth with a time of 2:03.22.

All of the girls who competed for the Indians contributed by finishing in the top 12 and scoring points for the team. Sophomore Ashlyn Dull finished Eighth in the 100 fly and Ninth in the 100 breast, Dirske was Ninth in the 100 back, Freshman Isabelle Myers placed 10th in the 500 free, Freshman Alyson Anderson was 11th in the 200 free, Richeson finished 11th in the 100 free and 12th in the 100 back and Doyle was 12th in the 50 free.

Boylan won the nine team meet with 305 points followed by the Indians with 189. Belvidere Co-op was Third with 169 points.

On Monday, Oct. 17, the Freshman girls finished Third at the Freshman Conference Meet held at Auburn High School. The Freshman were led by Kyra Cure who finished Second in the 100 free and Fifth in the 100IM and Molly Lindsey who finished First in diving. Oliva Dirske was Third in the 150 free and Fourth in the 50 back, Molly Schneider was Third in the 50 back and Seventh in the 50 free, Isabelle Myers finished Third in the 300 free and Fourth in the 50 breast, Chloe Richeson was Fourth in the 50 free and fifth in the 50 fly. The 200 free relay team of Risheson, Dirkse, Myers and Cure placed second. The Freshman meet was won by Boylan with 229 points; Belvidere Co-op was Second with 215 points and the Indians Third with 151 points.

The Indians are in action again Saturday at the Boylan Swim Complex competing in the NIC-10 Varsity Conference Championships. Diving is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and swimming at noon.
