The 44th Annual Rockford Home Show is back from Feb. 21-23, bigger and better than ever. Cost is $7 for adults and kids under 12 are free.

Luke Passmore, son of retired local teachers William and Bel Passmore of the Rockton-Roscoe area, was joined by just a couple hundred of his closest friends for a Hollywood like premier of his newest major movie that he scripted, “Love Hurts” that was shown at AMC 16 in Rockford Friday evening, the same day it opened in theaters across the country.

His congenial personality and smile were warmly greeting old friends and fans. In a question-and-answer session he encouraged writers to stick with their dream and know that he has spent a long time in the movie business to get to this point.

His babysitter Kelly Anderson was there, but she said her mother Sallie Klimczak did a lot more of that babysitting. A favorite teacher showed up too. Many friends and family of Luke’s parents were also in attendance and media representatives were there too.

Luke has been out in California since graduating from Columbia Film School in Chicago. He had started his film career much earlier, casting Hononegah classmates in numerous short films, which unfortunately were burned up in the Los Angeles fires, and that fire took those cherished memories, along with his home. However, on Friday most of the “stars” of those youthful productions were in attendance to view his major Hollywood production, only a month after the fateful Jan. 7 fire.

“Love Hurts” has a Valentine’s Day theme and humorous thread running through it, but it is an action film. However, some amazing gory action scenes and language aims it at an adult audience.
