‘Hot Rods and Hot Eats’ family-based car show’s a winner in Machesney Park
Hot Rods and Hot Eats family-based car shows are held in the north side parking lot of the former mall site (Machesney Town Centre), the fourth Saturday of the month with half a dozen food trucks.
The next event is set for Saturday, July 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. Admittance is free – come and enjoy seeing sponsored hot rods and events. The most recent event was held on Saturday, July

*”National Night Out” is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harlem High School; the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dept., Loves Park Police Dept., the Harlem Roscoe North Park Fire Dept., the North West Fire Dept., and the Loves Park Fire Dept., along with many more representations are set to attend the community event this year.
* “Cops-Cars-K-9” Car Show is also set for Saturday, Sept. 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Machesney Town Center.
As Machesney Park Mayor Steve Johnson notes, “These are all well-attended community family events!”
Johnson also adds that, “Top Dog Pizza and Pub will open soon in the old ‘Baking Grounds’ north building, which is located just east of Benny’s @ Nest, which recently held a ribbon cutting event and there will be a Starbucks opening this fall.
“We are moving in the right direction to bring back energy to the old mall property!”
