LOVES PARK – At the April 4 Loves Park City Council meeting, aldermen approved an ordinance, first and second readings, providing for a special use permit for a Planned Development in the commercial retail zoning district for property at 1515 E. Riverside Blvd. A planned development such as this will allow for a variety of business placements. A resolution was also passed “authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement (between Loves Park) and Winnebago County for improvements to the intersection of Forest Hills Road and River Lane.”

An ordinance, also first and second readings, was approved “providing for a zoning map amendment from commercial general zoning to single-family residential zoning” for parcels located at 513 and 517 Boylston St.

An ordinance, first reading, was passed approving a Class R3 (recreational beer and wine) liquor license for the Rockford Park District “at the newly expanded area at Sportscore II located at 4501 Sunsinger Way.”

A resolution authorizing the public works manager to seek negotiated bids “to modify the detention tanks”at Well Nos. 4 and 5 was approved.

A resolution adopting a “revised” building permit fee schedule was passed.

A resolution authorizing the water department manager to hire Schoening’s Painting and Decorating, Inc. for painting services at the water department offices at a cost not to exceed $3,156.50 was passed.

Fourteen ordinances, first reading were okayed relating to national and international code adoptions “with amendments.”

Mayor Darryl Lindberg issued a proclamation for “Mayor’s Day of Recognition – National Service Recognition Day” for April 5 in Loves Park.

The issue refers to the fact that mayors and village presidents throughout the country recognize the valuable assets that volunteers are to their communities, as these activities offer a cost-effective strategy for municipalities.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of March 27-April 6 in which 453 calls for service, 138 arrests, and 13 accidents were logged.

On the weekly fire department report dated April 3, two false fire alarm calls, one carbon monoxide or gas leak call, one wires down call, one oil or gasoline spill call, and one smoke or odor investigation call were reported.

Aldermen approved payment of $18,502.83 in water fund bills, and $51,475.69 in general fund and all other bills, as presented March 28.
