Hononegah Girls Swimming and Diving Team finished in Third place at the NIC-10 Varsity Conference Championship meet held Saturday at the Boylan Swim Complex. Indian Sophomore divers Abbey Hellinga and Kaitlyn Alt continued to improve their scores.  Hellinga finished Second with 420.90 points and Alt was Third with 328.60 points. Personal best scores for both divers.

The swimmers were led by Sophomores Emily McCabe and Megan Leppert, Junior Emily Bax and Seniors Julia Carabelli and Madaline Massetti.

McCabe won the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.13 and was Second in the 200IM with a time of 2:23.78. Leppert finished Third in the 100 free with a time of 59.50 and was Fifth in the 100 breast swimming a 1:18.38. Bax captured a Third place finish in the 50 free with a time of 27.07 and was seventh in the 100 back with a time of 1:11.01. Carabelli was Third in the 200 free with a time of 2:10.10 and Seventh in the 500 free swimming a 5:58.72. Massetti was Seventh in her only individual event; the 50 free swimming a 27.42. The Indians also had strong individual effort by Freshman Kyra Cure with a Fifth place in the 100 free swimming a 1:01.14 and placing 12th in the 100 back with a 1:14.53.

Bax, Cure, Carabelli and Massetti teamed to finish first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:47.66. The 400 free relay team of Massetti, Leppert, Carabelli and McCabe were Second with a time of 3:56.73 and the team of Massetti, Leppert, McCabe and Bax were Third in the 200 medley relay swimming a 2:03.14.

Senior Maggie He finished Ninth in the 200IM and 14th in the 100 breast, Sophomore Stephanie Betts was 13th in both the 200 and 500 free and Sophomore Ashlyn Dull was 14th in the 100 fly.

The nine team championship was won by Boylan with 296 points; Belvidere Co-op was Second with 263 points and the Indians Third with 218 points. The Indians Head Coach is Brian McGuire; the divers are coached by Gary Wright, Sr. They return to action next Saturday at Jefferson High School competing at the IHSA Sectional Meet.
