Jeanne Poyer McDonald Oliver, 91, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 28, in Portland, Tex., after a brief illness following a stroke.
Jeanne was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Belvidere, the second daughter of Millard and Marie Poyer. She grew up in rural Boone County and graduated from Belvidere High School.
In 1946 she married Robert McDonald of Rockford, and the couple had three sons, Millard, Dale, and Brad. The family lived in and around Belvidere until Robert’s death in 1982. Jeanne relocated to Corpus Christi, Tex. in 1986, following her sons Dale and Brad there. In her years there, she worked in the gift shop at what is now the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures and Educational Center. She loved being near the ocean and being warm all year round.
In 2002, Jeanne married Ken Oliver, an old family friend and widower from Rockford. They built a home in Rockport, Texas, and enjoyed seven years of married life until Ken’s death in 2009. In more recent years, Jeanne lived in assisted living at Gulf Point Plaza and with her son, Brad.
