BELVIDERE – On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the Belvidere High School girls’ varsity basketball team faced off against Hononegah High School at Belvidere High School at 7 p.m. The Lady Bucs lost with a final score of 44-67.
Although the Belvidere girls lost the game, they still gave it their all in the heated game.
Neve Yerk scored 17 of the Lady Bucs’ 44 points. She also had three steals in the game and was able to block three shots off of Hononegah.
M’Kahla Miner also had an impressive performance for the night. Miner scored a total of eight points for her the Belvidere team.
Liv Busch gave it her all as well with her scoring seven points for the Lady Bucs and rebounding seven baskets to deter Hononegah from Belvidere out of the game.
Despite the intense effort from the Belvidere Lady Bucs, Hononegah still came out on top with impressive performances from the Lady Indians.
Jordan King of Hononegah High School scored a total of 12 points for her team.
Matuska scored another 10 points on her own.
Welsh and Schmitz both scored eight points each to help lead the Hononegah Indians to victory.
