ROCKFORD – On Tuesday, Dec. 9, teachers, and staff at Ledgewood Elementary School gathered in one of the empty classrooms to begin assembling toiletry bags.
Each Christmas season, the faculty and staff designate a group in the area that is in need of assistance. This year Carpenters Place in Rockford will be receiving 60 bags containing deodorant, shampoo, chap-stick, shaving cream and razors and other essentials.
“All of our faculty and staff donated the bags. Carpenters Place can hand then out as needed throughout the year,” First grade teacher and team leader Emily Moyer said.
Carpenters Place is currently accommodating about 93 guests. The program provides housing assistance, meals, case management, employment training, education assistance and mental health access.
Carpenters Place is a not for profit organization located at 1179 Railroad Ave., Rockford.
