On Wednesday, June 15, the Belvidere Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office,Mchenry County Sheriff’s Office, Woodstock Police Department, and Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) arrested a man on multiple counts of robbery and theft.

Shawn M. Rank, 45, of Woodstock, was charged with two counts of robbery (class two felony) and two counts of theft (class three felony).  Rank remains in the Boone County Jail on a $250,000.00 (10 percent) bond.

On April 1, the Belvidere Police Department responded to the Cash Store, at 1479 N. State Street in Belvidere for a report of a man who demanded money from the clerk.

The investigation led Belvidere Detectives to coordinate with the Harvard Police Department, Genoa Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI.

On June 13, the Belvidere Police Department responded to the Alpine Bank and Trust Company, located at 600 S. State Street in Belvidere, for a report of robbery.

The Belvidere Police Department with the FBI coordinated investigative efforts and acted on numerous tips from the community, and other law enforcement agencies.

The Belvidere Police worked with residents and businesses to collect evidence that assisted law enforcement to develop Rank as a suspect.

The Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted with the preparation, completion, review, and authorization of all search warrant and charging documents.

On June 15, the Belvidere Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County SWAT, Woodstock Police Department, and FBI executed a search Warrant at a residence located in the 100 Block of Sunshine Lane in Woodstock.

Rank was taken into custody at the residence without incident.

The multi-jurisdictional investigations are on-going.  A class two felony is punishable by three to seven years in the Department of Corrections.  A class three felony is punishable by two to five years in the Department of Corrections.
