Long range planning, continuous improvement will be focus for new assistant superintendent
BELVIDERE – As the Belvidere School District continues to focus on providing relevant and challenging programs for its students, the Board of Education took another step forward on the evening of Monday, May 9 in the hiring of an assistant superintendent for school improvement.
Beginning July 1, David Carson will oversee improvement efforts of schools and the district through collaborative teaming and the development and implementation of strategies and long range goals.
He will work with principals and other administrators to identify and plan continuous improvement efforts relative to school and district needs and will oversee the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of school improvement plans.
School improvement plans are blueprints for how a school will improve the level of student achievement and spells out how and when the goals that have been established will be achieved.
Carson is currently serving as Executive Director of College and Career Readiness for Rockford Public Schools, where he has led their High School Academy Redesign work from its inception.
Carson has an excellent track record leading principals in substantial school reform work, and was recognized for his work in changing the learning experiences for students when he was named the Career Academy Coalition’s 2014 National Exemplary Educator.
