 Loves Park Aldermen approved a number of resolutions at the Nov. 8 Loves Park City Council Meeting:

* A Special Event Permit for Victory Sports Complex in the 7000 block of N. Alpine Road was approved to host a wedding event on Sat., Nov. 19 from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. “subject to the attendees capped at 500 persons and at least six security officers be on premise for the event.”

* The Mayor was authorized to hire Area Mechanical of Rockford to furnish and install a new Payne furnace at the City’s Police Department. Cost is $2,485.

* A resolution giving the Mayor the okay “to file the HIPAA Exemption Election letter and to take other necessary action in order to exempt the City of Loves Park, the Plan Sponsor of the City of Loves Park Comprehensive Group Health Plan, from the HIPAA requirements.”

* Authorization was also given for “the renewal of the City’s Employee Health Insurance Plan for one year, with Northern Illinois Health Plan to act as third party Administrator, and UME (United States Fire Insurance Company) to act as reinsurance carrier with said renewal to be effective on Dec. 1.”

* The Chief of Police was authorized to purchase one “Intoximeter EC/IR II breathalyzer machine on State of Illinois contract pricing at $6,875 from Intoximeter of St. Louis for use in the Police Department.”

* A resolution authorizing sealed bids for solid waste removal from the detention tank at Well No. 6 was approved.

* A resolution authorizing the City to go out for negotiated bids for snow removal on City owned properties was passed.

* A resolution authorizing the hiring of part-time drivers for snow removal for the 2016/17 season at $18 an hour was okayed.

* An ordinance, first reading, for a zoning change from single-family to two-family residential in the 500 block of Pearl Ave. was approved.

Aldermen okayed payment of $12,547.92 in water department bills, and $162,567.67 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Oct. 31.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly Police Activity Report for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5, in which 566 calls for service were received, 174 arrests were made, and 17 accidents were responded to. On the weekly Fire Department Report dated Nov. 3, the Department responded to three fire calls and one carbon monoxide or gas leak call.

Mayor Darryl Lindberg reminded the Council of the annual “Tribute to Veterans” event at the City Hall gymnasium on Nov. 10 with VietNow member Mary Nicholls as the keynote speaker. The Harlem High School Wind Ensemble and Choraleers were also set to perform.

Lindberg also noted that the Parks Chamber “Light Up the Parks Parade” is scheduled for Sun. Nov. 20 starting at 4:45 p.m. leaving from the Schneider Electric parking lot then heading north on Elm Ave. and ending at Machesney Park’s Town Center. Lindberg stated that leaf pick up in the City continues.
