At the Nov. 14 Loves Park City Council Meeting, aldermen heard from Mayor Darryl Lindberg that the City’s Water Department Manager, Craig McDonald, a former firefighter, was on the scene the previous week in Roscoe and saved the life of a 13-year-old boy who had been seriously hurt in an accident. “The boy wasn’t breathing and Craig knew what to do, he cleared his airway and saved his life,” the Mayor said. The child was airlifted to Madison.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly Police Activity Report for the week of Nov. 6-12, in which 457 calls for service were received, 238 arrests, warnings and tickets issued and eight accidents were reported. On the weekly Fire Department Report dated Nov. 13, one fire call, seven fire alarm calls, one mutual aid call, one carbon monoxide or gas leak call, and one wires down call were logged. Fire Chief Phil Foley reported that firefighters contributed 63 man-hours to the Nov. 10 ‘Tribute to Veterans’ held in the City Hall Complex and helped to set up, pass out pizza and pop to Harlem students, and then did all the clean up. Mayor Lindberg noted that 170 pizzas were used to feed over 500 Harlem students at the event! Aldermen approved payment of $25,821.03 in Water Department bills, and $743,243.66 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Nov. 7. Alderman John Pruitt gave the monthly Building Report for October. He said 105 permits were issued and $15,120 in permit fees were collected. A resolution authorizing a $2,500 donation to Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful in support of the 2017 Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program was approved.
