At the Aug. 15 Loves Park City Council meeting, in an ongoing endeavor to update the city’s water department building at 5440 Walker Ave., aldermen approved the department going out for negotiated bids for interior painting.

The structure was built in the 1980s and has not had sprucing up. A new outside entry door was recently approved.

In other business, the city treasurer was authorized to hire Actuary Timothy W. Sharpe, for services “to meet GASB 67 and 68 requirements” (Governmental Accounting Standards Board – Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) in regards to police pension evaluation for the annual audit report. The cost is not to exceed $3,000.

A resolution giving the okay for N-TRAK Group of Loves Park to repair a storm drain inlet at Forest Hills Road and E. Riverside Blvd for $7,890.10 was passed.

Water department bills totaling $61,860.72, and general fund and all others bills amounting to $429,463.51, as presented Aug. 8, were approved for payment.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of Aug. 7-13. There were 527 calls for service, 340 arrests, and 12 accidents reported.

An ordinance providing for a special use permit for a medical and professional establishment in the commercial retail-zoning district for properties located at 7702, 7802, and 7818 N. Alpine Road was approved.

A special use permit “to allow 100 percent office space in a multi-tenant commercial retail building” in a commercial retail zoning district at 6020 E. Riverside Blvd. was okayed.

An ordinance providing for a variance to place a parking pad in front of a home in a single-family zoning district in the 6300 block of John St. was postponed until the Aug. 29 council meeting.
