Mary Jane Ollmann, 85, of Kirkland died Saturday, April 7, at the Northwoods Care Centre in Belvidere.

She was born December 28, 1932 in Kingston Twp. to Walter and Pearl (Hyser) Ollmann. Mary was raised by her father’s sister Iva and Emmett Anderson.

Mary was a graduate of the Kirkland High School and was a faithful and active member of the First Lutheran Church of Kirkland.

She worked in the office at DeKalb Ag, retiring after 30 years of service.

She was a member of ELCA Ladies Church Group and Coat Closet volunteer.

Although Mary never had children of her own, she always cared and prayed for those close to her as if they were her own children and grandchildren. She could often be seen with a smile on her face in the presence of young ones and always embraced them with her strong hugs.

Her friends would express what a kind-hearted, caring and loyal friend she was to them. Mary was an avid watcher of baseball and especially loved the Cubs.

Survivors include her sister, Luella Lawton; niece/God-daughter, Sandra Lawton and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins; along with a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald (Ruby) Ollmann and Laurell “Sonny” Moon; one sister, Mabel (Cracker) Stroup and her cousin/brother, Bobby Anderson.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the Church.

Her funeral service will be on Monday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 510 W. South St., Kirkland with Rev. Carl L.M. Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
