First Saturday at Colonel Palmer House will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Colonel Palmer House, 660 E. Terra Cotta Road, Crystal Lake. A day dedicated to Scouting Calling all current and former scouts and their families; this day at Colonel Palmer House is dedicated to you. Come learn about the Palmer House, Crystal Lake’s local scouting history, enjoy hands on demonstrations and find our geocache. Fundamentals of a Bloody Mary Bar will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus, 2710 S. Country Club Road, Woodstock. Learn how to make the perfect brunch to accompany this classic morning beverage. This class teaches you the basic knife skills needed, how to use a variety of spices to mix with your recipes and to top it all off, we cheers to your health with a spicy Bloody Mary. Crystal Lake Expo will be at Crystal Lake South High School. Meet more than 120 local businesses and organizations – all in one place – during the Crystal Lake Home and Business EXPO, April 2-3 at 1200 S. McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. The EXPO is free to attend with fun promised for all ages. Visit the chamber’s website for the latest list of exhibitors and prizes.
Taste of Sri Lanka will be hosted at 12 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake to raise funds for the Blue Lotus Temple. The 13th Annual Taste of Sri Lanka Fundraising Dinner with Auction and Entertainment will be at 461 Peirson St., Crystal Lake, about 10 minutes from the Temple. The dinner begins at 5 p.m., but Silent Auction items will be on display before and during the dinner. There will be a short Live Auction after the entertainment and the announcement of Silent Auction high bids. Tickets are $35 and are available at the Temple Bookstore or office.
