Meridian Board recognized among the elite in the State
Meridian CUSD 223’s Board of Education was recently among 30 Boards of Education across the state of Illinois selected to present at the annual School Board Conference in Chicago later this year. This will mark six presentations for this Board over the past seven years.
The annual conference in Chicago serves as the most popular professional development opportunity for school board members throughout the state attracting thousands of attendees.
In addition to this distinction, the Meridian Board of Education was also recognized earlier this year for outstanding governance practices and procedures from the Illinois Association of School Boards.
This recognition serves as the highest award an Illinois school board can receive for operating in accordance with best governance practices for a school board. This year marked the 6th consecutive year of this distinction for the Meridian school board.
To provide context, the Meridian CUSD Board of Education is 1 of 6 Boards in the state to receive both the governance award AND be selected to present at the annual conference. There are over 850 school districts in the state of Illinois thus making the distinction of being one of only six to receive both honors truly incredible.
Meridian Superintendent Dr. PJ Caposey noted, “Our school board takes their job and responsibility to our students, staff, and community incredibly seriously. I am not surprised by any recognition they receive because they truly put in the time and effort to continually make themselves and our district better. I could not be more proud of their efforts.”
