Narrow Riverside Blvd. bridge to be reconstructed

At the Feb. 13 Loves Park City Council meeting, aldermen gave the go ahead to authorizing “professional engineering services for the Riverside Blvd. Bridge Replacement Project” by Wantz Park in the 500 or 600 block of E. Riverside, okaying McClure Engineering of Rockford to do the work at a cost of $128,584.24.
The narrow bridge will be reconstructed/replaced with financing coming from the city’s Motor Fuel Tax Funds account.
ComEd Manager Rommel Nogura out of Oakbrook Terrace addressed the council concerning the company’s “Smart Electric Meters” program that will be imple-mented in Loves Park in the near future. Some of the new meters will be installed soon with the majority of installations, by ComEd technicians, to be installed starting in August continuing on into early 2018.
Nogura explained that the meters “will offer customers better service, more choices and greater control over their electricity uses.”
