Loves Park Mayor Greg Jury presented Nathan Kutz as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals to the city council at the July 10 meeting, which was approved. Kutz term will expire on June 30, 2016 and will replace Frank Laudicina, whose term expired on June 30.

Aldermen also approved 11 resolutions at the meeting:

•A resolution authorizing a contract to be awarded to Montel Technologies for a security system to be installed at city hall for a total cost of $61,252.50 was okayed.

•Fire Chief James Hart was given the go ahead to purchase a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom from Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall for a purchase price of $45,502.26.

•The Economic Development/Planning Manager was approved to sign a contract with the Place Foundry, LLC for “place advisory services” at Riverside Commons at a total cost of $65,000.

•A resolution authorizing the Final Plat of HJS Subdivision passed, as did resolutions  that authorized Plat No. 5 of Breckenridge Subdivision, and Plat No. 29 of Rock Valley Business Park.

•The water department manager was given approval to hire Kayla Walston for the position of customer service representative in the water epartment, effective July 11, with a salary of $41,600.

•A resolution authorizing was approved for the water department manager to hire Midwest Well Services, Inc. dba Municipal Well & Pump, to make emergency repairs to pumping equipment at Well No. 3 for a cost of $82,960.

•A resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign an agreement for the lowest cost electrical provider for pump station wells in the City of Loves Park was okayed, as was a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign an agreement for the “lowest cost electrical provider” for street lighting in the City of Loves Park.

–Ordinances, first reading that passed were:

•For the placing of a stop sign at Squirrel Run and Vail Dr.; one for the placing of a stop sign at Keri Drive and McFarland Road, and an ordinance establishing no parking on portions of Galleria Dr.

Per the June 11 through July 1 fire department report, it was reported that responses were made for 157 EMS incidents, 19 service calls, five fires, and one water rescue.

From June 11 through July 1, the police department received 1,607 calls for service, made 49 arrests, issued 354 tickets and warnings, and responded to 35 vehicle crashes responded to by officers

Among other duties, water department employees between June 19 and July 3 worked on

Hydrant repair and maintenance, grounds maintenance (mowing), an abandoned service at 5335 North Second St., repaired the water service at 5508 North Second St., finished observation for water main improvements on Maple Ave., attended annual required safety training, and prepared a list of items needing attention for the water main improvement project on Maple Ave., prepared and sent paperwork regarding tri-annual lead and copper testing, and ordered necessary testing supplies for the testing.

Between June 19 and July 10, street department workers: continue mowing all city-maintained areas, started painting crosswalks, continued with catch basin and sidewalk replacements, finished ditch mowing. put up flags along N. Second Street. will continue to work on catch basin and sidewalk repairs, started painting traffic lines the week of July 10, and will continue ditch mowing, plus other duties.
