Loves Park Aldermen got back to business in the new year with a Council meeting held Jan. 2. The last Monday in December no meeting was held, so officials had two weeks of business to catch up on. Frederickson grew up in Elgin and is a graduate of that city’s Burlington Central H.S. and of Western Illinois University. On the weekly Fire Department Reports dated Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, eight fire alarm calls, one false fire alarm call, one public service, one rescue call, three carbon monoxide or gas leak calls, one wires down call, and two smoke or odor investigation calls were logged. Total fire calls for the past year came to 416 calls with a total dollar loss for the year coming in at $3,537,050 and 35 responses. The major portion of that dollar amount fell under the manufacturing and processing category. There were 153 responses to one or two-family dwellings, and 40 responses to multi-family dwellings. Restaurant or cafeteria total loss came to $120,000 for one incident.
In giving of their time for the Christmas holiday, Firefighters and Chief Phil Foley put in 258 man-hours over a 10-day period in picking up, sorting, providing and delivering toys, plus fixing a breakfast for needy children in the Loves Park and Machesney Park area.
