Community members are invited to hear CSA music students of all ages perform in recitals and concerts at the NIU Music Building. All CSA concerts and recitals are free and open to the public.

The NIU Community School of the Arts is pleased to announce the schedule for fall recitals and concerts. Solo and ensemble performances are featured in December on the Recital Hall and Concert Hall stages in the Music Building at Northern Illinois University.
All CSA concerts and recitals are free and open to the public.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, CSA Showcase Recitals begin at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Students who take private lessons on a variety of instruments will perform short pieces with an accompanist. CSA recitals continue as piano students of Georgia Price and Ann Chen perform at 3 p.m. Traditional and Suzuki guitar students of Eric Schroeder play at 5 p.m. The CSA Steelband directed by Yuko Asada and the NIUkulele Ensemble directed by Eric Schroeder perform a variety of tunes to celebrate the season at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, the Suzuki cello students of Tom Cappaert perform at 2 p.m. in the Recital Hall.
The Suzuki piano students of Marilyn Montzka perform at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 in the Recital Hall.
The CSA Sinfonia performs orchestral works by Wagner, Smetana, Bizet and Rimsky-Korsakov on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Boutell Concert Hall. Linc Smelser directs the youth symphony, which features more than thirty-five of the most talented high school musicians in Northern Illinois.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, Quentin Dover directs and performs with the CSA Guitar Ensemble in the Recital Hall at 8 p.m. Private guitar students of Quentin Dover will also play on this program.
The CSA fall recital and concert season wraps up with cello students of Linc Smelser performing at 10:30 a.m. in the Recital Hall on Saturday, Dec. 14. At 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., the Suzuki violin students of Ann Montzka Smelser and Laurie Rodriguez take the Recital Hall stage to perform short works with an accompanist.
