NorthPointe hosts eighth annual Fit and Fun Day, Prairie Triathlon

The early morning Triathlon at NorthPointe Health and Wellness began at 8 a.m., with the 350-yard swimming event. Competitors swam in 20-minute intervals per swimmer. Next up wasa 17-mile bike race bike race and finally a three-mile run.
Over 100 male and female athletes competed.The over-all female winner was Tara Sheets. The over-all male competitor was Eric Fielder.
At the same time, NorthPointe held a free Kids Fit N Fun Fair. Activities, games, snacks and prizes were available.Pickles the Clown had fun with the younger children, entertaining them with balloon animals and painting faces.
Karen Herdlklotz from “Hoo Haven,” anAnimal Rehabilitation Center in Durand, introduced at a red-tail Hawk, and a Corn Snake to the children and their parents.
NorthPointe Fitness Manager Kristie Lambright commended the many volunteers for their community support, including Roscoe and Rockton Police Departments and Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
This year, unusual trophies were awarded to over-all winners: Wreaths made from wild flower seeds, created by Lambright. First, second and third place winners from each category were also awarded
