Pec girls become champs
The Pecatonica Community Middle School track team sent 15 athletes to the IESA 3A State Track Championships. Tristan Garcia received 18th place in the shot put. The boys 4×200 relay team – Trey Brown, Cooper Hamilton, Izaiah Braimah, and Jonny Fritzel – received 16th place. Corbin Wise received 15th place in the 100-meter hurdles. Madison Cross was 15th place in the 400 meters. Summer Garcia got 14th place in the shot put. Gabriel Carlson received 14th place in the shot put. Hailey Hoffman was 14th place in the long jump. Ashley Wanke got 10th place in the 100-meter dash. Cameron Osterholz received 7th place in the 100-meter hurdles. izaiah Braimah was 6th place in the 100-meter hurdles. Ashley Wanke got 5th place in the 200-meters. The girls 8th grade team as a whole received 5th place. But state champions also returned! The girls 4×100 and 4×400 relay team of Madison Cross, Cameron Osterholz, Mary Frank, and Ashley Wankem not only won state in two events (4×100 and 4×400 relay), they set a state record in the 4×400 relay race of 4:17:44. Stephanie Wise is the head coach of the team, with assistant coaches Merlin Peacey, Tara Carlson, Nick Ford and Treyvonn Stifter.
