PECATONICA – December has been a busy month for the Pec Lions as they continue to honor the Lions motto, WE SERVE.

On Friday, Dec. 4 the Christmas tree and bridge at Sumner Park, which has been decorated and provided by the Lions for several years, was officially lit for the Christmas season. The evening also included caroling by the Cub Scouts and cookies and hot beverages provided by the Sumner Park District.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, Santa and his Lion’s helpers provided over 160 gift bags for the children that stopped by the US Bank to see Santa. Each year the Lions club invites Santa to meet with the children of the community and provides a gift bag of activity items and snacks. The America Legion Post 197 provided toys for all the children. They have increased the count every year and the numbers still continue to grow. Everyone enjoys Santa!

The following week, the Lions packed and delivered over 75 “Cheer Bags” to friends in the community who may need just a little bit of cheer this holiday season. They were filled with cookies, fruit, nuts, calendars, pens, and ornaments this year, all donated by the Lions.

And then to celebrate together after a busy few weeks, the annual Lions Christmas Dinner and party was held on Dec. 18, with over 20 members in attendance. A delicious meal and some enjoyable Christmas activities with prizes followed dinner. After a few weeks of rest, it will be back to planning their next events for 2016.
