Police Chief Chuck Lynde Wins Loves Park Rotary Award
After giving us a brief history of the Rotary’s mottos, Mayor Darryl Lindberg presented the 2016 award for “Service Above Self” to Loves Park Chief of Police, Chuck Lynde, at Loves Park Rotary’s Annual Christmas Party. He was in attendance with his wife, Jeni. Chuck was hired by Chief Darryl Lindberg in 1985 and became a full-time Patrol Officer in 1988. He was the first canine handler in Winnebago County and served as a handler from 1992 to 2012.
After several awards, commendations and promotions over the years, he was promoted to Chief of Police June 13, 2016. He and Mrs. Lynde have three sons. And, on a personal level, Chuck is proud to be the Director of the Wildcats Basketball Club through the Rockford Boys & Girls Club. The Wildcats train over 1,500 athletes from the region every year and bring several tournaments to the area as well as hosting more than a dozen camps. Mayor Lindberg thanked Chief Lynde for his many fine years of contributions and affirmed that he truly does embody the Rotarian motto of “Service Above Self”. Congratulations, Chief and Mrs. Chuck Lynde.
