Flora Community Church had a miniature replica church at the 2016 Boone County Fair.
“It’s dedicated to Fairdale,” Sharon Rogers said of the tiny church. They dedicated the church as a safe haven after Fairdale was hit by a tornado in April 2015.
Mike Lee built the miniature Flora Community Church as a token of worship and service the church has given to the Flora and Boone County communities over the past 157 years.
Even the miniature church served the community. The miniature church doubled as a rest station for fairgoers as well as a water station where people could get a free glass of water.
Members of Flora Community Church volunteered to help run the rest station and water cooling station during the 2016 Boone County Fair.
On Thursday, Aug. 11, one of the oldest members of the church, Eleanor Gable, volunteered her time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Gable has attended the church for over 20 years and said “it’s a nice place to go on Sunday,” and that it is a “good place to go hear about the Lord.”
Overall, the miniature Flora Community Church provided good exposure for the church and all that the congregation does for the community.
